Kaum jemand in Hollywood verkörpert dermaßen Style und Attitude wie LaKeith Stanfield. Zusammen mit „Shang-Chi“-Regisseur Destin Daniel Cretton und dem Indie-Hit „Short Term 12“ trat LaKeith Stanfield 2013 eine fast schon anarchistisch auftretende junge Generation an Filmschaffenden los, die heute endlich ganz oben angekommen ist. Stanfield selbst machte vor allem mit Blick auf seine Rollenwahl über die Jahre deutlich, dass ihm Gesellschaftskritik ebenso wichtig ist wie die Kunst an sich.
Neben Indie-Hits und Arthouse-Perlen wie „Sorry to Bother You“ standen da also Dramen wie „Selma“ und „Judas and Black Messiah“ auf dem Plan. Ganz nebenbei etablierte er sich aber auch in Mainstream-Hollywood („Get Out“, „Verschwörung“). Das Andersartige war LaKeith Stanfield jedoch stets das Liebste: Nach einer langjährigen Hauptrolle im Serienjuwel „Atlanta“ bringt er mit „The Changeling“ jetzt ein bizarres Neo-Märchen zu Apple TV+. Und das, nachdem er gerade für Disney Geister gejagt hat!
