Ein Koloss mit Herz und Verstand: Seit seiner erfolgreichen Wrestling-Karriere hat Dave Bautista längst klar gemacht, dass auch ihm die Zukunft Hollywoods gehört. Zwar ist der 52-Jährige noch weit von den finanziellen Erfolgsgeschichten eines Dwayne Johnson entfernt, überflügelt Bautista seinen früheren Ring-Kollegen in Sachen Schauspielkunst jedoch bereits jetzt um Längen. Nach kleineren Parts in Filmen wie „Riddick 3“ machte Bautista erstmals so richtig als Drax im Marvel-Hit „Guardians of the Galaxy“ auf sich aufmerksam.
2015 folgte ein gefeierter Auftritt im Bond-Universum, der Hollywood endlich auch Dave Bautistas Qualitäten jenseits seiner gewaltigen Muskelberge erkennen ließ. Die bisher charakterstärkste Leistung lieferte der versierte Ex-Wrestler dann in Denis Villeneuves „Blade Runner 2049“ ab, als er gemeinsam mit Ryan Gosling eine der ikonischsten Introsequenzen der letzten 20 Jahre auf Film bannte. Entsprechend castete Villeneuve den charismatischen Hünen direkt auch für eine Rolle im längst überfälligen Sci-Fi-Epos „Dune“.
